Acura at the Detroit Grand Prix
- Acura enters the 2025 Detroit Grand Prix as the reigning winners, with Wayne Taylor Racing's duo of Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor taking victory in the first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race on the new downtown Detroit circuit.
- The series previously race on the streets of Belle Isle Park, where Acura recorded four victories, including the 2019 event, won by Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya aboard their Acura ARX-05 prototype; consecutive GTD wins for the Acura NSX GT3 in 2017-18; and another overall win for the Acura ARX-01b prototype in 2008.
- This year, Acura will field two electrified ARX-06 GTP class prototypes fielded by Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian.
- The #60 ARX-06 will be driven by Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun.
- While neither has driven on the new downtown Detroit circuit yet, Blomqvist notched a podium finish with Acura and Meyer Shank Racing on the Belle Isle circuit in 2023, and Braun stood on the Belle Isle podium in 2015 in the PC class.
- The #93 Acura ARX-06 will be driven by two returning drivers to the downtown Detroit street circuit, Renger van der Zande finished third in last year's edition of the race, while Nick Yelloly's team suffered a suspension failure, recording a P10 result. Both will be looking to improve and fight for the victory with Acura MSR this year.
- The #93 GTP represents an increased presence from Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) within the organization as the HRC US team will strategize and engineer the racecar for the very first time in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition.
- Both Acura MSR teams have scored podium finishes already this year with the #60 finishing second in the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona and the #93 finishing third at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.
