Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, most EV owners prefer to charge at home because it’s more convenient and cost-effective than relying on public charging stations.

Level 1 home charging is done through a standard household outlet. Level 2 home charging requires a home charging station connected to a 240v line. While Level 1 charging can provide a few extra miles of range per hour, Level 2 charging can add enough range in an hour or two to support a typical daily commute.

The rising number of public charging stations in some areas makes it possible to solely use public stations. Many EV drivers often rely on chargers at their workplace. Search for charging stations using our Charging Station Locator Map.

The Acura EV app makes it easy to manage your electric vehicle charging sessions, both at home and at public electric vehicle charging stations. At home, plug your charge connector into your ZDX and charging will start based on your Charge Mode setting. The app will show the charging status, such as current battery state of charge (SOC) and time remaining. You can also stop a charge from the app.

The Acura EV app* is your guide to finding and managing public charging sessions too, by helping you locate charging stations, monitor your charging progress once connected at a public station, view charging rates and estimate the total cost of your session.

If your Acura EV comes with complimentary charging credits, the app will automatically apply them to eligible charging sessions at participating networks. Please note that the availability and terms of charging credits may vary. After complimentary credits have been used, payment for public charging is typically handled through a third-party charging network app or directly at the charging station using a credit card.

EV drivers can choose from two different EV charging station levels. DC Fast Charging (DCFC) stations are located across the country and provide the highest-power charging option, with some Acura EV models like the ZDX A-Spec with RWD designed to get up to 81 miles of range with a 10-minute charge.* Another option is Level 2 charging stations, often found at convenient locations like shopping centers, hotels and restaurants, which can charge some models like the ZDX up to 29.4 miles per hour. Understanding how electric vehicle charging stations work helps in choosing the right option.

To find electric vehicle charging stations, you can utilize two Acura tools designed to make the process simple and accurate:

Acura EV App
The Acura EV app features an electric vehicle charging stations map with real-time availability, connector types, power output, pricing and nearby amenities. This helps you quickly locate electric vehicle charging stations along your route or near your current location.

Acura Website Locator
You can also access the electric vehicle charging stations map on the Acura website to easily search for nearby options.

Both tools provide up-to-date details on station availability so you can identify the right charging location and navigate there with confidence.

You can pay for electric vehicle charging stations in two ways, depending on the location:

Acura EV App (Most Convenient)
The Acura EV app offers a streamlined way to start a charging session for your ZDX and pay at eligible locations, including EVgo fast chargers and their roaming partners. Everything from activation to payment is handled directly in the app to keep your day moving without interruption.

Paying Directly At The Charger
Some electric vehicle charging stations also support on-site payment with major credit cards, mobile payment services, or text-to-pay options, depending on the charger.

An NACS-CCS Adapter allows certain electric vehicles, like the ZDX, to use NACS chargers, giving you access to thousands of charging points across the nation on the Tesla Supercharger network plus other DC Fast chargers. Adapters are available for purchase through DreamShop and authorized Acura dealers and come with a 1-year warranty.

1. Find & Prepare: Use the Acura EV app* or Charging Station Locator Map to locate a compatible NACS J3400 DC Fast Charging station. Some stations require third party apps for payment (e.g., Tesla Supercharging stations require the Tesla app). Inspect the adapter and NACS charging plug for damage or debris and ensure the cable can comfortably reach your vehicle before parking.

2. Connect: Securely attach the NACS-to-CCS adapter to the NACS charging connector. Align the adapter with your vehicle’s CCS charge port and insert firmly.

3. Start & Monitor Charging: Activate and pay for the charge session using the charging provider’s system either through mobile app (e.g., Tesla, IONNA, EVgo) or credit card at the station. Look for visual or audible confirmation (e.g., green indicator light on the vehicle or charging station). Monitor charge status via vehicle dashboard or charging provider’s app and avoid tampering with adapter during charging.

4. End Session & Disconnect: Stop charging through the charging provider’s system then release your adapter by disconnecting from vehicle first and then removing charging cable. Return cable to housing and store adapter properly.

5. To keep your adapter in good condition, periodically inspect for wear or damage and clean with a dry cloth to avoid debris buildup.

The Portable Charging Kit is an Acura Genuine Accessory. This accessory may be available as an additional order during the purchase process. If so, you can also find it through DreamShop, the official Acura online marketplace for Acura Genuine Accessories, or at your local Acura dealership.

Your Acura Home Charging Station or Portable Charging Kit owner’s manual contains resources to help troubleshoot your charging equipment. Alternatively, you can contact Acura Client Relations toll free at (800) 382-2238 from Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm PST.
