At Acura the preservation of our environment is not a luxury but an integral part of the advanced values of the Acura brand. Accordingly, Acura is extending its commitment to the environment with the creation of the Acura Environmental Leadership Award, an initiative that invites Acura dealers throughout the U.S. to voluntarily reduce the environmental impact of their dealerships.
There are three levels of the Award. The Acura Environmental Leadership Silver Award is given to Acura dealers who achieve a ten percent or greater reduction in their overall energy use, develop a water use reduction plan, and implement a comprehensive recycling program. Gold Award recipients must achieve continuous improvement in their reduction and conservation efforts above and beyond the Silver level. The top-level Platinum Award is reserved for Acura dealers whose energy-efficient facilities earn a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Acura is advancing its environmental initiative with new, more fuel-efficient products, including its first ever gas-electric hybrid car, the Acura ILX Hybrid. The ILX is produced in Acura’s Greensburg, Indiana plant, one of two plants in North America that produce Acura vehicles while sending absolutely no waste to landfills.
Early recipients of the recently launched Acura Environmental Leadership Award:
Northeast Acura – Latham, New York (Gold Award)
McDaniels Acura – Columbus, South Carolina (Silver Award)
Norm Reeves Acura of Mission Viejo – Mission Viejo, California (Silver Award)
Acura of Peabody – Peabody, Massachusetts (Silver Award)
