Body Structure Design

RLX advanced compatibility engineering body structure

The RLX uses the next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE) body structure to enhance occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes.

  • The ACE™ design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.
  • This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment and can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred to the other vehicle in a crash.
  • The latest generation of ACE™ includes energy-channeling structures to protect body integrity when only a small portion of the front end receives the full brunt of a frontal impact.
  • The 2020 RLX has received an overall 5-Star Rating from NHTSA as a result of receiving 5-Star ratings on front and side crash tests and the rollover test. While the RLX Sport Hybrid has not had a frontal crash test, it did receive 5-Star ratings in the side crash and rollover test.
