An 8-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT)—with technology originally developed for racing—senses every imminent shift and prepares the next gear. Upshifts and downshifts are so swift, so seamless, so instinctive that you may decide to forego the paddle shifters and let the TLX do the thinking.

Optional and exceptional is the 3.5L V-6. Cast in lightweight aluminum and paired with an all-new 9-speed automatic transmission, the athletic powerplant makes you appreciate the intelligently cushioned driver’s seat as you accelerate to cruising speed. Once there, Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) lets the engine seamlessly transition to three cylinders, greatly enhancing fuel efficiency. Meet the fearsome, twin-turbocharged TLX GT Race Car. In 2014, Acura will again team with RealTime Racing to contest the Pirelli World Challenge—this time in the premier class, against the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and McLaren. After the last race in September, we fully expect each of these legendary marques to start developing a four-door sports sedan for the 2015 season.

On the V-6 model, experience intuitive, one-touch engagement of the 9-speed automatic transmission. Simply push for Drive, Neutral and Park. Pull for Reverse and the electronic Parking Brake. Need to access the lower gears to quickly pass a slow moving vehicle? Well, there are paddle shifters for that.
