Top Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA

Acura solidifies its position as a safety leader and innovator in the luxury segment with the 2016 MDX’s 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Specifically, the MDX earned five stars in the Front Crash and Side Crash tests. The Acura ACE™ body structure design played the primary role in achieving this level of safety. The Multi-View Rear Camera, available Forward Collision Warning system, and Vehicle Stability Assist™ and Lane Departure Warning systems were also taken into account.

The 2016 MDX joins the rest of the Acura line up to earn a 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)* when equipped with AcuraWatch. TSP+ is the highest safety rating designated by IIHS and Acura is the first luxury brand to earn a 2015 TSP+ rating for its entire model line. They also earned a top score of SUPERIOR in its front crash prevention test thanks to the AcuraWatch™ suite of advanced safety and driver assistive technologies available on all current Acura models.

* IIHS Top Safety Pick+ claim applies to 2016 model year vehicles except TLX where only the 2015 TLX has been tested.

“After a spirited romp on a twisty section of Mulholland Highway in the 2014 Acura MDX, 2014 Infiniti QX60 and 2013 Lexus RX 350 F Sport, one of Edmunds' more opinionated editors hopped out of the Acura and pronounced: "Yep, no doubt, the MDX wins this test.'”
