What is AcuraLink The Next Generation?
AcuraLink® The Next Generation is a major upgrade of our navigation and connectivity experience; an upgrade that brings Acura vehicles online and integrates them with cloud-based services. The system pairs with most smartphones to deliver streaming music, podcasts, email and tweets—all of which you control using normal radio controls on the dash and steering wheel. When you subscribe to the Connect package, your vehicle is able to send and receive data using its built-in cellular transceiver. This technology allows you to connect with your vehicle using your smartphone, tablet or computer. You can set the alarm, check fuel level and tire pressure, lock the doors, even beep the horn and flash the lights— from across the parking lot or across town. From virtually any location with cellular service, AcuraLink Connect gives you access to your Acura vehicle.

Which Acura vehicles support AcuraLink The Next Generation?
AcuraLink The Next Generation is available exclusively on select RLX and MDX vehicles beginning with the 2014 model year. Future models in 2014 and 2015 will support AcuraLink.

Can I upgrade an older Acura vehicle to AcuraLink The Next Generation?
Unfortunately, AcuraLink the Next Generation cannot be added through a hardware or software upgrade. However, AcuraLink first generation services are available on many previous Acura vehicles. The latest release of the AcuraLInk Roadside app does support vehicles that are still under warranty and older vehicles that have the Total Luxury Care® (TLC®) with Roadside Assistance18 program.

Are there geographic limitations to AcuraLink The Next Generation services?
AcuraLink The Next Generation services work throughout the United States and Canada. However, the system must have a cellular connection to provide all the services included in a Connect or Premium subscription.

Can I try out AcuraLink The Next Generation before I enroll?
Yes. We offer a 90-Day Free Trial of AcuraLink Premium70 that lets you experience the entire suite of AcuraLink services. Call 877-375-2638 and ask AcuraLink support for details.

Do I have to enroll in anything to get AcuraLink The Next Generation services in my vehicle?
There are three subscription levels for AcuraLInk The Next Generation: the Standard package, Connect package and Premium package. You can also take advantage of our 90-Day Free Trial of AcuraLink Premium, 70 which gives you access to the entire suite of AcuraLink services.

The Standard package includes cloud-enhanced navigation with continuously updated traffic data for freeways and surface streets—all at no additional cost for the first three years of ownership.

Subscribing to the Connect package activates the vehicle’s onboard cellular transceiver, which allows the vehicle to send and receive voice and data communications. With the Connect package you can log in to a virtual dashboard using a smartphone, tablet or PC. You can lock or unlock the doors, get an alert if the alarm is going off, check tire and fuel level status, even sound the horn and flash the headlights.

The Connect package also provides in-vehicle roadside assistance and emergency service requests at the press of a button and automatic request for emergency response services. In any crash that causes an airbag to deploy, your Acura will automatically contact AcuraLink. Agents will attempt to contact you and request that local authorities dispatch help to your location.

Please note: If your vehicle is unable to make a cellular connection due to signal strength, location or other technical difficulty, Connect and Assist features will not work and automatic request for emergency response services will not occur. Neither Acura nor affiliated service providers can control whether emergency responders will respond to any request for emergency services or do so in a timely manner.

The Premium package delivers on demand, live support from a personal assistant, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. AcuraLink agents can make hotel, restaurant or travel reservations, search for locations and send directions directly to your vehicle’s navigation system.

What is “Streams” and how does it work in AcuraLink The Next Generation?
AcuraLink Streams is a free app, powered by Aha that uses your smartphone to connect the audio system in your Acura with cloud-based radio, news and other media. With Streams you can use standard radio controls on the dash and steering wheel to access thousands of podcasts, streaming radio services, even content from sites like TripAdvisor, Facebook and Twitter.

What is “Connect” and how does it work in AcuraLink The Next Generation?
Connect refers to a subscription package and an app for iOS and Android devices. The Connect package activates a cellular transceiver on board your vehicle, giving you access to live, 24-7 roadside assistance at the press of a button. It also supports automatic request for emergency response services; a system that lets your vehicle notify AcuraLink (as long as it can make a cellular connection) if an airbag is deployed. AcuraLink support will attempt to contact the vehicle and request that help be dispatched to your location, even if you are unable to summon help on your own.

The Connect package also puts your Acura in the digital cloud, where you can access it using the Connect smartphone and tablet app, or a dedicated website. The Connect app and website provide you with a virtual dashboard and key fob you can use to control your vehicle, from across a parking lot of across town. You can lock or unlock the doors, check the tire pressure status and fuel level and receive alerts if your alarm is going off, all from your smartphone, tablet or personal computer.

What is the Premium package and how does it work in AcuraLink The Next Generation?
When you subscribe to the Premium package, you gain access to an AcuraLink agent who can provide around the clock, live assistance at the press of the “Link” or “Assist” button in your vehicle, so long as your vehicle can make a cellular connection. These AcuraLink agents can help with reservations, directions, correspondence and more.

Please note: If your vehicle is unable to make a cellular connection due to signal strength, location or other technical difficulty, Premium features will not work, including live personal assistance.

How do I purchase or activate an AcuraLink The Next Generation subscription?

How do I sign up for the 90-Day Free Trial of AcuraLink Premium?70
When you sign up for the 3-year Standard package (complimentary), 1-year Connect package ($249) or 1-year Premium package ($348) —you are given the option of a 90-Day Free Trial of the Premium package. Ask AcuraLink support for more details at 877-375-2638.

What happens after 90 days?
If you don’t cancel by the 90th day, your credit card will be charged for one year of the Premium package on day 91. This transaction gives you 15 months of AcuraLink Premium for the price of 12.

Do I have to provide my credit card number?
Yes. When you sign up for:

AcuraLink Standard 3-Year Subscription — If you don’t cancel your free trial by day 90, your credit card will be charged for one year of the Premium package. Whether you decide to cancel or continue with AcuraLink Premium, you always retain three complimentary years of the Standard package.

AcuraLink Connect 1-Year Subscription — On day 1, your credit card will be charged for one year of the Connect package. If you don’t cancel your AcuraLink Premium free trial by day 90 or you decide to continue with the Premium package, your credit card will be charged the difference between the 1-year Connect and Premium packages.

AcuraLink Premium 1-Year Subscription — On day 1, your credit card will be charged for one year of AcuraLink Premium. If you cancel by the 90th day, you will be refunded the Premium package subscription fee. If you do not cancel, your 1-year AcuraLink Premium subscription begins—giving you 15 months for the price of 12.

What exactly do AcuraLink The Next Generation applications do?
There are three AcuraLink The Next Generation apps, each free app provides a different level of connectivity between your Acura and your iOS or Android device.

The AcuraLink Streams app connects your Acura to cloud-based news, internet radio and data like email, texts and tweets. With Streams you can use standard radio controls on the dash and steering wheel to access Pandora radio, plus thousands of podcasts, streaming radio services, and even major websites like TripAdvisor, Facebook and Twitter.

The AcuraLink Connect app allows you to access your Acura through a virtual dashboard. As long as the vehicle has an active cellular connection, you can use the Connect app to lock the doors, receive alerts if your alarm is triggered, check the tire pressure, fuel level, and more, all on your smartphone or tablet. You can also access your vehicle’s maps, check your maintenance minder, receive messages, access quick tips and feature guides. All Connect app features and functions require an active Connect package subscription.

The AcuraLink Roadside App provides advanced roadside assistance. It can provide location details to AcuraLink support when you request assistance using your compatible smartphone. Throughout the event, the Roadside app can keep you connected with AcuraLink support until emergency response personnel arrive. The Roadside app and its services are available to all Acura drivers throughout their warranty period.

Please note: the Roadside App does not provide an automatic request for assistance if you are involved in a collision that results in an airbag deployment. Only your Acura models with an active cellular transceiver provide automatic crash notification.

Do I need smartphone applications to use AcuraLink The Next Generation?
Yes and no. To access cloud-based services you must tether your smartphone to your vehicle. All in-vehicle, cloud-based media, except Pandora®45, require the AcuraLink Streams app.

Subscribing to the Connect package activates your vehicle’s onboard cellular transceiver, which, so long as there is a cellular connection, allows you to request roadside and emergency assistance at the press of a button. It also supports. automatic emergency request for response services. In any crash that causes an airbag to deploy, your Acura can automatically contact AcuraLink. AcuraLink support will attempt to contact you and request that local authorities dispatch help to your location. The vehicle does not require a separate mobile phone to provide any of these services.

The Connect app links a smartphone or tablet directly to your car. When you have an active Connect package subscription, this app turns your smartphone or tablet into a virtual dashboard and help center. You can lock the doors, check the tire pressure, fuel level and more, all on your smartphone or tablet device.

Will the AcuraLink The Next Generation apps work if my vehicle does not have AcuraLink The Next Generation installed?
No. The AcuraLink The Next Generation Connect and Streams apps will only work on vehicles equipped with AcuraLink The Next Generation.

Can I access AcuraLink The Next Generation information and functions from a computer?
Yes! You can access your vehicle’s virtual dashboard from virtually any device with Internet access and a modern browser. You can lock or unlock your doors, use your vehicle’s maps, send points of interest to your vehicle’s navigation system and check vital signs like tire pressure and fuel levels.

Does AcuraLink The Next Generation navigation include traffic information?
Yes, you receive a three-year subscription to AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic, including freeway and surface street conditions, at no additional cost.

Does AcuraLink The Next Generation navigation provide traffic updates for surface streets?
Yes. AcuraLink The Next Generation provides detailed, continuously updated traffic for surface streets, as well as local points of interest.

Can I send directions from my smartphone, tablet or computer to my vehicle’s navigation system?
Yes. If you have a Connect or Premium subscription, you can use the Connect app or a web interface to plot a course or find a destination and send it directly to your vehicle.

What are the different types of Roadside Assistance?
Every Acura vehicle comes standard with Acura Total Luxury Care® (TLC®) with roadside assistance18. TLC® provides complete roadside assistance at no charge throughout your warranty period. For details, see the TLC brochure that came with your owner’s manual. You can access this complimentary roadside assistance using the AcuraLink Roadside app or by calling:

This no-cost roadside assistance is not the same as the on-board, live assistance you receive with an active Connect or Premium subscription. Without a Connect or Premium subscription your vehicle cannot automatically report a crash, nor can you access live help using the “Assist” button.

Connect package subscribers can press the “Link” button in their vehicles to request roadside assistance, towing and other non-emergency services 24-7.

In emergency situations, pressing the “Assist” button in their vehicles connects Connect and Premium package subscribers to live personnel who can request that emergency vehicles be dispatched to your location. In any crash that causes an airbag to deploy, your Acura can automatically contact AcuraLink. When AcuraLink support receive your vehicle’s report, they will attempt to contact you and request that local authorities dispatch help to your location.

Please note: If your vehicle is unable to make a cellular connection due to signal strength, location or other technical difficulty, automatic request for emergency response services will not occur. Neither Acura nor affiliated service providers can control whether emergency responders will respond to any request for emergency services or do so in a timely manner.

Premium package subscribers can access live, 24-7 personal assistance by pressing the “Link” button in their vehicle for non-emergency assistance with virtually anything from reservations and directions to responding to correspondence.

Can I get roadside assistance if I do not subscribe to Connect services?
Yes. All Acura vehicles come with free roadside assistance during the vehicle's warranty period. To get roadside assistance call:

How does automatic emergency assistance work?
Your vehicle can automatically inform AcuraLink if an airbag is deployed.

The system is designed to alert a live agent, who will attempt to contact you through the vehicle’s cellular transceiver. If you do not respond, he or she will contact local emergency responders, provide your vehicle’s GPS location, and request that first responders be dispatched to your location.

Automatic emergency assistance requires an active Connect subscription and an active cellular connection to function. Neither Acura nor affiliated service providers can control whether emergency responders will respond to any request for emergency services or do so in a timely manner.

Please note: the AcuraLink Roadside app does not provide automatic emergency assistance.

How does stolen vehicle recovery work?
If you report your vehicle is stolen, AcuraLink can work with you to locate the vehicle. Simply call AcuraLink with a valid police report number and we will assist you and the authorities in recovering your Acura.

What can an AcuraLink The Next Generation Premium package agent do for me?
AcuraLink Premium package agents are essentially personal assistants who are at your disposal 24-7. He or she can make hotel or dinner reservations, book a flight or help you respond to emails and phone calls — all while staying focused on the road.

What kind of devices does AcuraLink The Next Generation support?
AcuraLink The Next Generation works with iPhones®8 and iPads®8 running iOS 5.0 and later and Android phones and tablets running version 2.3 or greater.

Do I need a smartphone to use AcuraLink The Next Generation?
Yes and no. To use the AcuraLink Streams app (which connects your vehicle to cloud-based content), you must tether your smartphone — or a tablet with cellular service — to your vehicle.

Subscribing to the Connect package activates a separate cellular transceiver that is built into your vehicle. This allows you to request roadside assistance and emergency assistance at the press of a button.

The Connect package also supports 24-7 live monitoring that can automatically request emergency help for you if an airbag is deployed. All of these features work without a separate smartphone app.

The AcuraLink Connect app allows you to interact with your vehicle over the internet. When you have an active Connect package subscription, the Connect app functions as virtual dashboard, key fob and help center. You can lock the doors, check the tire pressure, and more, all on your smartphone or tablet.

Please note: Connect features require a cellular connection. If your vehicle is unable to make a cellular connection due to signal strength, location or other technical difficulty, Connect app features will not function. You will not be able to request roadside assistance, and automatic emergency response will not occur.

Does AcuraLink The Next Generation work with my existing Pandora® and Aha accounts? Or do I need to create new ones?
Pandora®45 is independent from AcuraLink and will work regardless of an AcuraLink activation. If you have already created an Aha account it will work with your AcuraLink Streams app. Please note that you must use Aha through the Streams app, not through the Aha app alone.
